WOLVES LOSE HOME OPENER TO CONQUEST 64-54
Manchester, NH-- Quarterback Brain Jones completed 24 of 34 attempts for 394 yards and seven touchdowns with no interceptions in his Manchester debut, but the Albany Conquest were victorious 64-54 in the Wolves season home opener.
Penalties and turnovers were the Wolves undoing as they were flagged 16 times for a loss of 105 yards and lost two fumbles that set up two second half Albany touchdowns.
The Wolves got on the scoreboard first when Jones eluded a sack and found Emery Sammons in the end zone to take a 6-0 lead after a missed PAT. Manchester trailed by only one touchdown at halftime 33-27 but then the Conquest tacked on three unanswered scored with help from the two Wolves fumbles for a 54-27 advantage with just over three minutes left in the third quarter.
Manchester was able to put 20 points on the board with three unanswered touchdowns of its own late in the fourth quarter but it wasn't enough to complete the comeback. The Conquest improved to 2-1 and broke a six-game losing streak on Manchester's home field.
